Kaolin clay Used in wide amount as filler in rubber manufacturing industries, to make them mechanically stronger and resistance from wear and tear friction.  ‘Soft’ kaolin clays have larger grain sizes and are used where high loadings (for economy) and faster extrusion rates are more important than strength. 

‘Hard’ kaolin clays with smaller particle sizes impart high modulus, high tensile strength, stiffness, and good abrasion resistance to rubber compounds. The major reason that kaolin is used in rubber compounds is its whiteness and low cost. Although China clay (Kaolin) costs less than most other rubber pigments, it has excellent functional properties.
